LRP clearance profile measurement

Our clearance gauge measuring system is a state-of-the-art and precise instrument for surveying rail networks. The system consists of several laser scanners mounted on a measuring trailer at the level of the vehicle axle. These scanners capture the clearance profile along the track axis, creating a detailed point cloud of the entire route. At the same time, important track geometry data are also collected, such as the course angle, pitch angle, superelevation, curve radius, as well as the position on the track and speed.

Thanks to these measurements, we can simulate whether a planned vehicle profile can travel through a track network or if there would be collisions. Optionally, we can also extract the track center distance to check if two vehicles on adjacent tracks can pass each other.

The clearance gauge measuring system has already been used by numerous transport companies worldwide to digitize routes and provide track data to vehicle manufacturers as part of a tender preparation.

Our evaluation software can detect any exceedance of the clearance profile and display it in 2-D view, diagram views, and as a red marking in 3-D view. This information is extremely useful
for transport companies wishing to procure new vehicles, or for clients who want to know the clearance profile considering the track superelevation and curve radius.
